Why Kagero?

The Tale of Genji is a masterpiece of classic world literature, and it is surprising for two reasons: One is that it was written a thousand years ago. The other surprise is that this grand human drama was written by a woman, which was very unusual in Japan at that time.

Kagero is the title of chapter 52.

  • I like both the shape of Kanji character 蜻蛉 and its sound.
  • I wanted a charming, Japanese cultural name.
  • It is an easily pronounceable name for non-Japanese.
  • Writer Murasaki Shikibu, a Japanese noblewoman and lady-in-waiting, is representative of woman's power.

For the above reasons, I adopted this name as a symbol of our mission: the support of creative women.

Because the flight of the Kagero (dragonfly) is in one direction only, it represents an unyielding spirit.

During the sengoku age (the age of Civil War), most Samurai adopted pictographs of the Kagero (dragonfly) as an ornament on their armor, swords, weapons, etc.

The company name may sound feminine but in fact it has the spirit of the samurai.

Kagero Logo

The Corporate logo and its color are the face of the company. Considering the origin of the company name, the graphic design consultant and architects, having mixed blood of Italian and Japanese suggested the color of mellow Bordeaux wine.

And she designed a special dragonfly (Kagero) for guiding visitors through the home page.

The Kagero (dragonfly) is a girl and her nickname is Pepi. There is no special meaning but I like its sound. As the home page unfolds, she meets a nice lover, grows to cherish him, and they make a happy home in the end. Through the love and support of her family, she transformed into the Kagero company and took off to the business world. You will find that Kagero is one person at first and it will be two and three at the next stage.
